Out of the Woodwork

“The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.” (Psalm 12:8)

King David, who understood well the effects of a leadership’s morality on their nation, was saying that wickedness and rebellion toward righteousness has a way of coming out of the woodwork when acceptance of sin finds a seat among the honored and the authorities; and in case you haven’t noticed – America’s “woodwork” has been emptying out lately!

Since 2008 approximately 24 States have passed laws recognizing homosexual “marriages” and unions; these include states who have had the will of the people overturned in the courts. People in at least another dozen states are challenging state laws that limit marriage to one man and one woman. Since 2008 the same-sex spouses of the federal executive branch employees have received tax payer funded benefits. Since 2008 the nation’s military has done away with “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” and “D.O.M.A.” is a thing of the past.

So what happened in 2008 to make the woodwork let loose? Vileness was exalted. EA

But they paid no attention, and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than the nations whom the Lord had destroyed before the children of Israel. And the Lord spoke by His servants the prophets, saying, “Because Manasseh king of Judah has done these abominations (he has acted more wickedly than all the Amorites who were before him, and has also made Judah sin with his idols), therefore thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘Behold, I am bringing such calamity upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whoever hears of it, both his ears will tingle.” (2 Kings 21:9-12)

One Big Housing Bubble!

It has been truthfully said by some that the new sign of commitment among my age group (the millennials) isn’t a ring on the finger but rather a ring with a house key on it.

Friends, make no mistake, truthful saying or not, there’s a huge difference between being committed to a house and being committed to each other! There’s a huge difference between taking the plunge and plunging one’s self into debt.

Playing house comes with spiritual, emotional and financial bills that are real. Shacking up racks up the debt on your morality, your children and your culture. It’s a faux reality. No brick and mortar house will ever replace the stability or reliability in a relationship that a godly marriage provides (Ephesians 5:22-33).

Marital commitment replaced by a commitment to a home loan? That’s one big housing bubble that won’t do anything but burst!

Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.” (Hebrews 13:4)

Cultural Meltdown

The Western culture is a relatively short-lived mindset in terms of prosperity, government and freedom, and it seems as if we are determined to keep it that way! From the America’s to the European nations to the “Land of the Down Under” a shift is taking place of tectonic proportions. We have forgotten how the west was won!

We are more concerned about the rights of children than we are with raising them right. We are more concerned with houses than we are with homes. We are more concerned about melting icecaps than we are with melting morals. We are more concerned with giving handouts than we are with hands that do not want to work. We are more concerned with people having their freedom from religion than we are with people having freedom of religion. We are more concerned with abortion rights than we are with abortion wrongs. We are more concerned with living it up than we are with living.

According to one brother in Christ who did the math, the West doesn’t know how to be happy because we’re too worried with people being gay…those are my words not his. But his numbers did reveal that Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, and Sweden have all “legalized” homosexual marriage. His research also revealed that laws allowing gay marriage have been proposed, are pending, or have already passed in at least one legislative house in Andorra, Columbia, Finland, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Nepal, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and Uruguay. Sadly, since he did his number crunching New Zealand actually legalized homosexual marriage too. On top of that, none of the previous examples include the nine American States (the beacon of the western culture) who have “legalized” homosexual marriages. In less than 10 years America has gone from approving none to approving homosexual marriage in nearly one out of every five states! Do you see how fast a nation and culture can fall down a slippery slope???

If our culture paid less attention to supporting faux families and more attention to supporting the types of families that build strong foundations maybe we would have to worry less about the sinkholes that are swallowing up our identity as a culture.

Unfortunately a cultural thermostat set too high on prosperity has led to cultural thermostat set too low on a spirituality that recognizes our dependence upon the one God of the heavens and the Earth. And my prayer is that the western culture would soon realize that the meltdown we are experiencing is not due to the world getting warmer – it’s due to hearts getting colder! EA

Article Update: As of April 23, 2013, the nation of France “legalized” homosexual marriages as well, and as of May 2, 2013 the American state of New Hampshire “legalized” homosexual marriages raising the percentage of American States to 20% that have done so. As of May 7, 2013 the American state of Delaware “legalized” homosexual marriages sadly raising the number of American states who openly approve of abominations to 11. As of May 13, 2013 the American state of Minnesota “legalized” homosexual marriages sadly raising the number of American states who openly approve of abominations to 12. How fast one falls down the slippery slope! As of October 21, 2013, New Jersey will “approve” of legalized lust. As of December 15, 2013, the state of Hawaii will become the 15th state to join the not-so-United-States in their open approval of closed spiritual hearts…and the state of Illinois’ sun is setting quickly on the horizon as well; and the sun did indeed set in November of 2013 making it the 16th state. As of 12-19-13 and 12-20-13 the state supreme courts of New Mexico and Utah struck the state’s ban on homosexual marriages thus opening another lust filled closet door to sanctioned sin.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.” (Romans 1:18-21)

“Allergy Season”

Allergy season is here! When that layer of green dust appears, then you know the plants are in business. But the appearance of green dust isn’t the only indicator of the beginning of allergy season – the disappearance of modest clothing seems to mark the start of the season too. It seems as if more people get allergic to their clothes than they do the pollen at this time of the year.

As Christians, whether it’s 30 or 100 outside, we represent God to the world. If we allow our public clothing to leave “little to the imagination” on purpose, then it’s not the cotton’s fault…it’s our conscience that has the problem! We should know better. As the temperature starts to rise, with or without the pollen count, please remember that modesty should matter for Christian men and women.

Ladies, short shorts and short skirts, tight pants and dresses, low-cut shirts and blouses, and bare all bikinis may be in touch with the latest fashions, but it’s out of touch with holiness. Men, mowing the yard can be done just as easily with a shirt on, and leave the “muscle tee’s and the gun show” for the guys at the gym. People don’t have to see your masculinity to know you’re a man.

Don’t compromise godly values for worldly wardrobes. Dressing immodestly isn’t a matter of economics – it’s a matter of self-worth. Dressing immodestly isn’t a matter of opinion – it’s a matter of distinction. Dressing immodestly isn’t a matter of control – it’s a matter of consideration.

Immodesty from a Christian is nothing to sneeze at, whatever season we’re living in. EA

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.” (Colossians 3:1-5)

“UNTOUCHABLE”

What would the story of the compassionate Samaritan in Luke 10:29-37 be without the compassionate Samaritan? It would be a story with a pitiful ending!

In the lesson that Jesus taught, the traveling Samaritan went beyond the borders of race, beyond the borders of wealth and beyond the borders of public opinion to help someone who, in all honesty, might have walked right by him if he had been lying there in the ditch beaten, bloodied and robbed. Because of a lack of love, humanity can sink to its lowest when we can turn a conscience-free eye away from a soul possessing human-being that is in true agony.

Jesus told that story for a reason. There is no telling how many times He literally watched it play-out while looking at the Earth from Heaven. It is unfortunately still something He sees all over the world. Not too long ago there was a story that I read which left me asking, “Where was the Samaritan?” In the story, officials at the Indian hospital “Kanpur Medical College” in northern Uttar Pradesh state acknowledged that a woman who had given birth to a baby boy died a day later because she was not given treatment from the doctors. Even the hospital’s chief medical superintendent refused to use the life saving knowledge he had. Unfortunately, her son died the same day he was born. There were people who eventually tried to help her, but it was too late; she had been in her condition for too long. (more…)

History Has Told and History Will Tell

No one can deny that America has made its mistakes in the past. Our nation, like all other nations, has made major mistakes. That being said, I now want to say this very plainly: our leaders in power are denying our history to our detriment. I am not talking about decisions that were made in the past. I am talking about the ones that are being made today.

High poweredpoliticians have been picking a fight with theHighest Power” in the land for the last several decades and the taunting has gotten a lot more intense over the last few years. Some people are determined to make God history in our country. But if we can learn anything from history, it is that a nation that has a history with God but no present does not have much of a future to look forward to.

How can we own up to so much of our past but still deny the Power that has allowed us to even have one? Listen to this historic song written long ago by a writer named Francis Scott Key! The United States Congress adopted this original poem turned song in 1931 and it became known as our National Anthem. Read the whole thing because believe it or not, there may be something in this song that you’ve never heard before!

“Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light, What so proudly we hail’d at the twilight’s last gleaming? (more…)

Homophobia!!!

Homophobia” is such a confusing word to me. It is a label used by those who believe that there are no harmful side effects to the promotion and living out of the homosexual lifestyle on our society and it is a label which is used to ridicule anyone who believes that the promotion and living out of the homosexual lifestyle in our society is detrimental on multiple levels. It is used in a manner that makes it sound like the person who believes that homosexuality is unacceptable is actually “suffering from a fearful and IRRATIONAL CONDITION” resulting from an “uneducated bigotry.” Well, let’s get one thing straight: When it comes to the “homophobia that I suffer from,” I am not afraid of homosexuals – I am afraid for them spiritually.

It is sad and a shame when a person compares a sexual choice to the way someone is born. There is no LOGICAL defense that can be given to support the homosexual lifestyle.

First, it is UNNATURAL. Nature itself teaches that the physical act of sex is meant to be something that occurs between the opposite sexes! That’s why there are males and there are females. There is NO procreation that can occur from any homosexual relationship. The entire homosexual relationship is based upon nothing but a perverted form of sex. (more…)
